MESH Certification
Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Programs
The Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Program (MESH) Certificate benefits those in the environmental, safety and health field and is awarded after successfully completing 100 credit hours.
75 Credit hours must be earned through one of the MESH sponsors.
All environmental, safety and health courses offered by the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina, the NC State Industry Expansion Solutions, and the NC Department of Labor, are eligible to receive course credit. A maximum of 10 Credit hours may be earned by attending various North Carolina safety conferences. Course credit can be counted as far back as 5 years.
Costs include course tuition, plus a $99 fee you submit upon completing 100 required credit hours.
There are six different MESH certificate programs currently offered by the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina, NC State Industry Expansion Solutions, and the NC Department of Labor:

MESH
- 30 Hour Core Course
- 70 Elective Hours
Construction MESH (C-MESH)
- Geared toward individuals responsible for construction safety and regulations under 29 CFR 1926 construction standards
- 30 Hour Core Course
- 60 of the 100 credit hours must be construction specific
Environmental MESH (E-MESH)
- Geared toward individuals responsible for environmental safety and regulations
- 30 Hour Core Course
- 60 of the 100 credit hours must be environmental specific
Emergency
Preparedness MESH
- Geared toward individuals responsible for analyzing, identifying, measuring and controlling workplace hazards or stressors that can cause sickness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in workers through chemical, physical, ergonomic or biological exposures
- 30 Hour EP Core Course and Onsite Response Planning
- 60 Hours in Emergency Preparedness Topics
Industrial Hygiene MESH (IH-MESH)
- Geared toward individuals who work with industrial hygiene concerns
- Complete Fundamental of Industrial Hygiene (Core Course)
- 60 Hours of the 100 credit hours must be industrial-hygiene specific
Public Sector MESH (PS-MESH)
- Geared toward individuals responsible for safety in a multi-faceted governmental environment
- Complete Public Sector MESH Core Course Week
- 70 Elective hours in the general industry and construction field
Advanced MESH
- Students who have received the MESH, C-MESH, IH-MESH, or PS-MESH may enroll in the Advanced MESH certificate program.
- Complete a week of Environmental concentration
- Complete a week on advanced safety and health topics - Hands-on applications, field trips, and case studies are an integral part of this certificate
